Classroom Videos developed for homeschoolers by homeschoolers

First, there was Families of Faith Christian Academy.

schoolhouse redFamilies of Faith began as a private school for home-based students in 1995. FFCA serves families who desire official school records, transcripts, a real graduation with an accredited high school diploma, and, of course, help in courses like algebra and science. For more information on the school, please visit the school's web site.

Now those real classes are available to you.

ClassFlix provides all of the advantages of a classroom instructor without the inconvenience and expense of travel to and from class. Your student can watch course videos any place they have access to a home computer or laptop, even the new iPad.

Classflix still pictureA few students who are gifted in math may be able to master the new concepts introduced in Algebra by just using a well designed textbook like the ones produced by Saxon. A few more students can bridge the gap with computer-generated "whiteboard" lessons that have a teacher's voice in the background, but most students need to be taught the fundamental concepts by a teacher that understands them. A teacher who can "connect the dots" when it seems the problem has just morphed for no apparent reason to another form. That's what the Saxon textbook was designed for and ClassFlix provides.

ClassFlix completes the textbook.

Most textbooks "assume" that there is a teacher standing in front of the class to explain the material and are by design "teacher-dependent". Homeschoolers working one-on-one with their children have consistently produced far better results than the age-segregated classroom has produced, but that success can be stunted if the parent does not have the background to properly teach the concepts, or has limited time because of work schedules.

dad helping with homeworkIn many homes, for example, Dad is the algebra teacher, but that means math has to wait until after supper, which often conflicts with other activities such as church, ballet or ball practice. (The number of activities that could be inserted here is endless.) Not to mention that the evening is the normal time with family and friends. The resulting gaps between new concepts being introduced and practiced make it hard for students to truly master the necessary concepts, particularly in courses like algebra.
